This happened during an online broadcast from the Rijksdienst voor Ondernemend Nederland. As chairman of the WJC jury I had the honour to invite Minister Helder to announce the winners. The ceremony can be viewed <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=BNyuXwp7q8s&amp;t=1373s\">here<\/a> (from time: 1:00:56)<\/p>\n<p>In the category best prototype to support people with dementia, the winner is: DeepVibes, by Frederico Allegro and his team from the UK.<br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/deepvibes.ai\/\">DeepVibes<\/a> wants to improve the quality of life of people with dementia and their carers by developing an Artificial Intelligence application based on reminiscence therapy, which is a proven effective intervention in dementia. The app stimulates conversations, records them and thus keeps these memories digital and easily available. The recordings are analysed with Artificial Intelligence technology and provide information about cognitive and language abilities. The app is available for free and is still being developed. See <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=2lR6_c9FWjg\">here<\/a> for a movie.<\/p>\n<p>And the best product is <a href=\"https:\/\/genuscare.nl\/?gclid=CjwKCAjw3cSSBhBGEiwAVII0Z5IM5OxMQ4eTgrpbpnw8Ve--hYCVXycsJRPDiXfklYY010f-hdwVthoC0L8QAvD_BwE\">Genus Home Care<\/a> by Marie-Christine Vierhout and her team from the Netherlands.<br \/>\nGenus Home care helps people with dementia to stay connected, it records their daily patterns and changes in the environment, and it gives alerts if there is a worrying event. The device is a beautiful smart picture frame where photos can be shared and video contact can take place. There are various sensors, for example to register movement, light, sound, gas and carbon monoxide, after which an alarm can be raised.<\/p>\n<p>Hopefully, the prize will give an impetus to these technological applications and will help to make a real difference in healthcare practice. And of course the same goes for the other finalists, who also shared great applications. Genus Home care helpt mensen met dementie verbonden te blijven, het registreert hun dagelijkse patronen en veranderingen in de omgeving, en het geeft waarschuwingen als er een zorgwekkende gebeurtenis is. Het apparaat is een mooie slimme fotolijst waar foto\u2019s gedeeld kunnen worden en er videocontact plaats kan vinden. Er zijn diverse sensoren, bijvoorbeeld om bewegingen, licht, geluid, gas en koolstofmonoxide te registreren, waarna gealarmeerd kan worden.  Hopelijk geeft de prijs een impuls aan deze technologische toepassingen en zal het ook helpen om daadwerkelijk een verschil te maken in de zorgpraktijk. En dat geldt natuurlijk ook voor de andere finalisten, die ook mooie toepassingen hebben gedeeld. De leden van de Europese werkgroep voor mensen met dementie (EWGPWD) vonden alle producten mooi en dachten dat deze goed door de doelgroep geaccepteerd zouden worden. Genus Home care helpt mensen met dementie verbonden te blijven, het registreert hun dagelijkse patronen en veranderingen in de omgeving, en het geeft waarschuwingen als er een zorgwekkende gebeurtenis is. Het apparaat is een mooie slimme fotolijst waar foto\u2019s gedeeld kunnen worden en er videocontact plaats kan vinden. Er zijn diverse sensoren, bijvoorbeeld om bewegingen, licht, geluid, gas en koolstofmonoxide te registreren, waarna gealarmeerd kan worden.  Hopelijk geeft de prijs een impuls aan deze technologische toepassingen en zal het ook helpen om daadwerkelijk een verschil te maken in de zorgpraktijk. En dat geldt natuurlijk ook voor de andere finalisten, die ook mooie toepassingen hebben gedeeld. De leden van de Europese werkgroep voor mensen met dementie (EWGPWD) vonden alle producten mooi en dachten dat deze goed door de doelgroep geaccepteerd zouden worden.
